I think some bands really benefit from major label support, where others really thrive on smaller labels or even doing it on their own. Would you recommend that other artists aspire to attain major label support, or keep the confidence to go it solo & independent? Inara: It just depends on what you want and where you fit. Have you considered performing any of your Hall & Oates covers on the show 'Live From Daryl's House'? Inara: We don't really do much traveling anymore. The Zombies and Specials are some others I loved growing up. Is that terrible? I like a lot of different music. What other UK or Los Angeles bands do you like ('60s to the present)? Inara: I hate answering these questions. What sort of keyboards/patches do you frequently use to get all those tasty sounds? Greg: I've used my Fender Rhodes a lot in the past. Inara's vox are mostly done with a Telefunken 251 mic. My Panther Duo organ is one of my favorites. Greg: I think I have too many synths to mention. In the studio, what's the recording set-up like for vocals and synths? Inara: Greg is the guy to ask about this. But until then, I'm not too worried about it.Īs long as I stay a little creative. I know that will change when my kids start going to school. It's difficult to find the time and mental space to be creative. How has the experience of having children and family life in general impacted your creative output? Inara: Quite a bit. I think not writing is what gets you into trouble. I always think the worst that could happen would be to write a bad song, which nobody has to hear. But if I have writer's block, I think I just try to muscle through it. What are some of the things you do to keep from going into or breaking out of artist/writer's block? Inara: I don't do much. Greg: Our tour manager Chris and myself rushing up the stairwell to get our bags when our hotel catches on fire. I don't know if I have one that I'd want to share, but I think everyone on tour experiences both. What is the craziest tour story you have to share? Inara: There are a lot. Greg: Again and Again and Polite Dance Song might be my favs.

Not only do I love the video, but I love that we (Greg and I) are not the main event. Inara: I really do like them all, but I think I would have to go with our 'Polite Dance Song' video. Which is your favorite video you've made and why? Greg: I used to do a Brazilian Martial Art/ Dance called Capoeira.

What is something about you that nobody would guess? Inara: I can't sleep in. Greg: most problems I have are probably insignificant. Inara: You can have fun wherever you are. Greg: family comes first The greatest lesson you ever learned from a child? The greatest lesson you ever learned from your parents? Inara: Generosity. Greg: When I first heard Aphex Twin I wanted to be his assistant engineer so I could see how he works. I'd like to know what's going in his head. I think so If you could be any one person for a day, who would it be? Inara: My 2 year old. Greg: Some early shows I remember are the Clash and also Tom Petty If you want to share: Who will you interpret on the next volume of 'Interpreting the Masters'? Inara: We like to keep it secret, in case we want to change our minds.

The first concert that I wanted to go to was to see Prince at the (Los Angeles) Forum for the 'Purple Rain' tour. Inara: I grew up going to concerts because of my dad. Greg: I wish I was fluent in many languages What is the first concert/musical performance you attended? What talent do you wish you had? Inara: I wish I could play piano like Greg. It's hard to pick opening bands because I want to open for everybody. Greg: I'd like to form another band with Inara and perform in disquise. I think it would be fun for them to open up for us one day. If you could be the opening act for anyone, who would it be? Inara: Prince Greg: Kate Bush Who would be the ultimate opening act for you? Inara: My nephews have a band. The Bird and the Bee cover Hall and Oates' I Can't Go For That, from the album 'Interpreting the Masters volume 1: A tribute to Hall and Oates.' Lyrics to 'Maneater' song by The Bird And The Bee: She'll only come out at night The lean and hungry type Nothing is new. Thanks to everyone for submitting questions!
